Our organic extra virgin olive oilTUSCAN, with an intense flavour, pleasant to the palate, it is mainly distinguished by itshigh amount of natural antioxidants and vitamin E.
We are able to guarantee a minimum content of600 mg/kg in each bottleof these important antioxidants called polyphenols.
To achieve this extraordinary result, the olives must be expertly harvested before they are fully ripe, which will consequently have a very low yield butan extremely high concentration of all the most beneficial active ingredients.
Throughout the entire supply chain, including storage within our warehouses, aconstant temperature between 15-20 °Cso as not to alter the polyphenolic matrix.
Why is it important to use an extra virgin olive oil with these characteristics?
Only by using an olive oil with these characteristics is it possible to truly exploit the benefits linked to its active ingredients, using the daily quantity recommended by EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) of 20g per day.
Polyphenols are natural substances found in olive oil that have beneficial effects on health. The claim approved by EFSA states that olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress.
But what are blood lipids?Blood lipids refer to the fats in the blood, which include several substances, such as:
- Cholesterol: A type of fat that is needed for several functions in the body, such as producing hormones and building cells. There are two main types of cholesterol: LDL ("bad" cholesterol) and HDL ("good" cholesterol).
- Triglycerides: Another type of fat that is used by the body for energy. High concentrations of triglycerides may be associated with health problems, such as heart disease.
What does oxidative stress mean?Oxidative stress is a damaging process in which free radicals – unstable molecules – can damage cells and blood lipids, contributing to health problems such as cardiovascular disease. Olive oil polyphenols help protect blood fats (lipids) from this oxidative damage, keeping them healthier and contributing to overall well-being.
In summary, consuming polyphenol-rich olive oil is not only tasty, but can also help keep fats in our blood (such as cholesterol and triglycerides) safe from oxidative stress, thus promoting our health.
